PARTY TONIGHT

Small cash, big bash

With most of the hotels and clubs offering never-like-before party packages, it is time to make the most of this New Year’s Eve

As another eventful year comes to a close with an unlikely ’slowdown’ note, the city is visibly geared up to reflect a different picture during the last few hours of the year. To greet a brand new year with hope and commitment, the city has ensured that nothing goes ’slow’. This is because, this last night of the year, Gurgaonites want to forget their wounds-come out of their closets and surrender to the festive call.

And what can be a more happening this New Year’s Eve than visiting the hotspots of the city. With music, food, drinks and décor-all in place, Gurgaon will rock to its best. If you have missed out Mojo in DT City Centre Mall this Christmas, it’s time to set your schedule right. "Oriental is the theme here for this New Year’s Eve and the club will be at its best. Special attractions of the evening will be DJ Prince Philip who, will especially fly down from Goa and a guest appearance of Punjabi pop star Mica," informs DJ Seams at Mojo.

Bollywood commercials, particularly the best of 2008 will rock the music lounges and discotheques of the city. Fusion, hip-hop and RMB will be add-ons for the perfect musical ambience. While guest DJs will enthral the crowd at some places, six-hour-long-non-stop music will rock others. From ’Rock On’ to ’Chandni Chowk to China’, clubs in the city will echo the same notes.

"We have not invited any guest DJs this year. We propose to take party hoppers of the city on a fantastic musical journey that will start with soft rock and gradually move on to retro towards midnight. Our theme is ’Be a rock star’ and the music will be accordingly rocking," says DJ Vinod at Chinese and Thai Café, JMD Mall. On the whole, party hoppers in the city can look forward to an action-packed evening this New Year’s Eve. "My friends and I have already ’paired up’ for couple entry at the night clubs. We are still assessing where to go. The city has so much to offer that there is a problem of choice," says 22-year-old Rahul Sharma.

While the hotels are at their all-time best, clubs in the city too, are all set to woo youngsters with their special entry offers. When last year, the couple entry fee was something around Rs 8,000, at the Deck at Sahara Mall, it has been slashed to Rs 5,000 this year. Even, Mint, at 21st Milestone, has slashed its entry fee to Rs 3,500 from last year’s Rs 5000. And that’s not all. Almost all these places are offering entry fee that is inclusive of unlimited food, drinks and snacks. "Normally we offer complementary food and drinks to the ladies and charge Rs 700 from men for unlimited food and drinks. But, this New Year’s Eve, the entry fee will include everything," informs Raka Satpathy, manager, Events & PR, Mint. So, what are you waiting for? If the sun is rolling west, you know it’s time to put on the best of your party gear and jive into the festive mood.
